Protein C
Protein C is a vitamin K-dependent glycoprotein that plays a key role in the regulation of blood clotting. The anticoagulant activity of Protein C is enhanced by its cofactor, Protein S. Once activated, Activated Protein C (APC) mediates proteolytic degradation of coagulation Factors Va and VIIIa, thereby inhibiting thrombin formation and preventing excessive clot formation. Deficiencies or dysfunctions in Protein C are linked to an increased risk of venous thrombosis and other clotting disorders.
Our comprehensive range of Protein C research reagents and diagnostic tools includes monoclonal and polyclonal antibodies, Protein C deficient plasma, ELISA and latex immunoturbidimetric kits for accurate quantification of Protein C levels as well as chromogenic and clotting assays for measuring Protein C activity in plasma.
