Hyphen
Hemoclot Thrombin Inhibitors and Biophen DTI
are highly sensitive clotting and chromogenic assays (respectively)
for the quantitative measurement of hirudin and other direct thrombin
inhibitors in human plasma.
• Use of highly purified human thrombin (alpha form)
• Linear dose response curve (even at concentrations >0.1ug/ml)
• No interference from prothrombin or fibrinogen
• Evaluation of the ‘true’ direct anti-thrombin
activity of the DTI
• Reproducable and consistent from run to run and lot to lot
• Cost effective |

Hyphen
Hemoclot Quanti V-L
• Next generation assay
• Identifies all FV mutations that lead to APC Resistance
• 100% agreement with PCR
• Quantitative:
- Only one assay per sample, saves time and money
- No disruption of results by batch to batch variation
- No need to establish a cut-off
- No need for normalisation
- No overlap of normals, heterozygotes or homozygotes
• Therefore much easier to use with higher confidence in results

Hyphen
Biophen FVIII:C
• Chromogenic Assay
• Utilises the outstanding technical performance of the Hyphen
purified human proteins
• Designed with highly characterised, therefore reliable reproducible,
synthetic phospholipids
• Complies with European Pharmacopea recommendations
• Avoids any factor reagent depletion during assays by using
a large excess if Factor X
• Can be used for high and low working ranges
• All of the above make it a highly suitable kit for measuring
concentrates, high levels of FVIII in plasma, diagnosis of von Willebrand
disease and for Haemophilia A. |

CHECK4®FLU A/B |
|
|
| |
A
New rapid test from Quadratech for Influenza A and Influenza B viruses
CHECK4®FLU A/B is a rapid immunochromatographic test utilising
a dual cassette to test each virus separately from a single specimen
preparation.
Running the two tests individually avoids a high antigen load of one
virus causing antigen excess and false positive results for the second
virus.

The
EASY READER is an innovative meter for quantitative measurement of immunochromatographic rapid tests
results. The meter utilises a high resolution closed circuit digital
camera and integrated software to generate results. The Easy Reader
removes any operator subjectivity and ensures the cassettes are
read at the correct time interval.

Microsporidia
Bordier now produce IFA monoclonal antibodies for
Microsporidia. Product code 8100:
2 x 0.5 ml anti-Enterocytozoon bieneusi monoclonal antibody,
ready to use
2 x 0.5 ml anti-Encephalitozoon intestinalis monoclonal
antibody, ready to use
1 x 2.0 ml anti-mouse IgG Alexafluor 488 conjugate, ready to use
Instructions for the staining procedure.
Enterocytozoon
bieneusi and Encephalitozoon intestinalis are important
opportunistic pathogens. These intracellular protists predominantly
infect the epithelium of the small intestine causing chronic diarrhoea
and malabsorption in acquired immunodeficiency syndrome or after
organ transplantation in recipients treated with powerful immunosuppressors.
The most common microsporidial infection in humans is caused by
E. bieneusi. There is a high prevalence of enteric carriage
of E. bieneusi amongst immunocompetent persons in tropical
countries where this parasite naturally persists in the human population.
Double infections with the two parasites might also occur.
In recent years, clinical cases caused by microsporidia decreased
due to the administration of highly antiretroviral therapy restoring
immunity. However, microsporidian parasites are not eliminated in
all patients and relapses can be observed. Healthy persons, especially
travellers returning from tropical areas and immunosuppressed patients
undergoing organ transplantation are still at risk from such opportunistic
infections. |
